The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce is seeking a new President to lead our team. The ideal candidate will be a confident, self-starting type that can cast vision for our Chamber and help create a plan to move us forward. If hired, you would be instrumental in supporting the vibrant business community and economic development that is taking place on the Eastern Shore!
About the Eastern Shore Chamber
The Eastern Shore Chamber has over 900 members and is a three star accredited Chamber of Commerce in the state of Alabama. We have an active Board of Directors, six full-time and 3 part-time staff that are all ready to help you achieve the goals of the Chamber.
As the President of the Chamber you will be responsible for all organizational activities of the Chamber and its foundation. This includes (but is not limited to): program initiatives; membership recruitment, development and retention; hiring; training and supervision of staff; total fiscal responsibility; and developing and maintaining a collaborative working relationship between the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce and business and public policy/governmental organizations, other regional chambers and other regional organizations to foster a strong business environment for the members. And you’ll need to personally visit businesses on a regular basis for the purpose of building goodwill and gathering information to share on member needs and opinions.
Skills and Experience
Our primary focus for this Executive position is to find someone with strong political acumen. This is an apolitical position, but the right candidate will have to have the ability to tactfully work with individuals with differing opinions. You’ll also need to be able to represent chamber members both individually and collectively. It should go without saying that you’ll need to have strong interpersonal skills that engender confidence. The candidate that gets this position will also serve as the organization’s primary liaison with government, trade, and professional organizations.
Additionally, you’ll need:
• At least five years experience as a successful leader with business acumen.
• Must be able to effectively deal with volunteers, public officials and the general public.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and read P&L Statements.
• Bachelors Degree or above.
• Successful completion of a background check.
