Alabama Chamber Association Commends Linda Tilly

The Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama recently presented a commendation to Linda O. Tilly, Executive Director of VOICES for Alabama’s Children, on the occasion of her upcoming retirement.

Linda Tilly has served as the Executive Director of VOICES for Alabama’s Children since 1996.  She recently announced her retirement effective at the end of 2013.

“Linda has been a tireless advocate for Alabama’s children.  She has led the discussion on children’s policy issues resulting in key legislation affecting the well-being of children in Alabama,” remarked Ronnie Acker, president of the Bessemer Area Chamber of Commerce, and current Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama.

Linda has served on numerous national, state and local boards advocating for children’s issues.  It is particularly worthy to note that she served nationally on the Kids County Network Steering Committee for the Annie E. Casey Foundation and also on the Board of Trustees of VOICES for America’s Children in Washington, D.C.  Her service to the State of Alabama extends to the Alabama Children’s Policy Council, the Alabama Early Learning Advisory Council, the Governor’s Task Force to Strengthen Alabama Families and the Governor’s Council on Pre-K Policy, as well as many others.

“Linda has been a true partner through VOICES for Alabama’s children.  Her service, loyalty and dedication are to be commended.  Even though she has announced her retirement, Linda’s passion and commitment will still be felt throughout Alabama,” said Jeremy L. Arthur, president and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama.
