for the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce

The Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Amy Brabham as the new Director of Economic Development, effective Monday, June 2.

“I am excited and honored to serve as the new Director of Economic Development for the Prattville Chamber,” said Dr. Brabham. “I look forward to serving on the Chamber’s economic development team as we continue to build upon an already strong economic development effort in Prattville and Autauga County. I am excited to help further the efforts to bring growth opportunities to the community.”

“We are thrilled to have Amy join our team,” said Patty VanderWal, President, Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce. “Amy’s background in workforce development will prove invaluable to our community. One of the greatest challenges and opportunities our state faces is the ability to supply a skilled workforce that meets the needs of existing and prospective industry. Amy understands this issue and will be able to provide special insight and actions for connecting education and industry.”

Prior to joining the Chamber, Dr. Brabham was Vice Chancellor for Career and Technical Education and Workforce Development for the Alabama Community College System, Department of Postsecondary Education.

Dr. Brabham has worked with local governments, state educational entities and statewide economic development organizations such as the Alabama Department of Commerce, AIDT and EDPA. A highlight of her economic development experience was joining Alabama Governor Bob Riley and the team that brought CGI, Inc. to Troy establishing more than 200 technology-based jobs in partnership with Troy University. These experiences have been along an 18-year career with Wallace Community College’s Corporate Education unit, the Alabama Technology Network and through the Governor’s Office of Workforce Development and the Alabama Community College System’s division of Workforce Development and Career and Technical Education.

Dr. Brabham’s education background began with a Bachelors degree from Auburn University followed by a Masters degree from Troy University and culminated with a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Alabama.

She is active in economic development organizations and is a graduate of the Auburn University Economic and Community Development Institute.

Dr. Brabham and her husband, Danny, and children Parker, Jordan and Joshua look forward to contributing to the Prattville and Autauga County area.

Celebrating its 40th year, the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce was organized for the purpose of advancing the commercial, industrial, civic and general interest of Prattville and Autauga County and it has played an integral role in promoting businesses and the community.
