BCA, ATN to Announce Alabama’s Top Manufacturers for 2015
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Business Council of Alabama and the Alabama Technology Network on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, will announce the winners of the 2014 Manufacturer of the Year Awards during a luncheon ceremony.
The 2015 Awards speaker is Jay Timmons, President and CEO of the National Association of Manufacturers. Timmons this year has been touring the United States to speak about manufacturing and associated issues that are important to the nation’s economy.
The MOTY Awards begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Alabama Activity Center, 201 Dexter Ave., in Montgomery. The event is open to the media.
Since the first MOTY in 2000, the ceremony has attracted Alabama dignitaries and manufacturing leaders to honor companies that are committed to improve Alabama’s economy.
“Now in its 16th year, the Business Council of Alabama is honored to salute Alabama’s best manufacturers for their valuable participation in not only the state’s economy but also the economies of their employees and the suppliers who do business with them,” said William J. Canary, President and CEO of the BCA. “Begun 16 years ago, the Manufacturer of the Year Awards continues to be a premier event for the BCA, the Alabama Technology Network, the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama, and the National Association of Manufacturers.”
The BCA is the exclusive affiliate in Alabama to the NAM and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
The awards program recognizes Alabama’s manufacturing enterprises that exhibit excellence in leadership, performance, profitability, and workforce relations. Winning manufacturers are selected by an independent panel of judges who look for demonstrations of superior performance in customer focus, employee commitment, operating excellence, continuous improvement, profitable growth, and investment in training and retraining.
Awards are to be given in the following categories: Large Manufacturer of the Year for a company of 400 or more employees; Medium Manufacturer of the Year for a company of between 100 and 399 employees; and, Small Manufacturer of the Year for a company of not more than 99 employees.
