Decatur- Morgan County Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Crystal Brown was presented with the prestigious Jamie Wallace Award during The Partnership annual meeting of the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama (Alabama Chambers) and Business Council of Alabama (BCA) held in Birmingham on November 19, 2024. The award is presented to chamberprofessionals who havedisplayed outstanding attributes in their daily vocation and is the highest honor presented to an Alabama chamber professional. It is only presented in years when a nominee is especially deserving of the distinction.

The recognition is named in honor of long-time chamber professional Jamie Wallace of the Selma-Dallas County Chamber of Commerce. Wallace served as president of the Selma-Dallas County Chamber for 16 years after a distinguished career with The Selma Times-Journal and Selma Free Press. The Jamie Wallace Award recognizes career accomplishments of chamber executives who have established exceptional leadership, professionalism, service and dedication to the chamber of commerce profession and the state association.

In presenting the award, Jeremy Arthur, the 2021 award recipient, said of Brown “ Crystal is a proven leader with extensive experience, skilled at developing people and partnerships, always thoroughly prepared, reliable, and consistently delivers excellence. The brief things I’ve mentioned only touch the surface of her impact, her dedication, her determination, her grit, her commitment, her leadership, and her passion.  Yet, she will be the last one to want it acknowledged.  It’s just who she is!  Never wanting the recognition, just continuing to make a difference!”

“Crystal Brown is a catalytic change agent, moving her community and our state forward. She is a thoughtful, collaborative leader with an innate ability to address the toughest opportunities with integrity, care and compassion,” added Paige Hutto, president and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama.

Crystal joins a short list of only eighteen previous winners.
